Casona del Sur, Dance Center, Anthro museum, backpackers & hostals, (haven't even really stared on hotels), Vaqueros, San Lorenzo, fixing up parks, pics of cars, Balcarce Craft Fair, teaching English in primary schools which don't have any English yet.

Fix up the drinking fountains in the parks.
Fix up the children's areas. The slides for example.
Fix up the skate board, bike ramp in San Martin park.

Set up a hotliine to the city to report problems in parks, like drinking fountains not working. Slides and swings broken.

Teaching English

Teach to poor kids, in state schools where there is no English

Get young people who are studying English to help teach children.

Set up system for inviting foreign visitors to the classes. Not just from English speaking countries, but others too. Kids love to meet foreign travelers.

And invite foreigners.

Invite backpackers to visit schools.

Problems:

English is not being taught in some state primary schools.

Some school directors think a degree in English is needed. They are too worried about curriculums and titles (titulos). But you don't need a degree to teach the children the basics and to get them interested in English. It is more important that the teacher love kids, love to teach and has a real desire that the kids learn English. In other words, more important that the teacher inspire kids to want to learn more English, and not only English but other languages, too.

Get Highschool students to be like big brothers, big sisters to primary school students.

On a volunteer basis I work with depressed, suicidal, self-harming teens. Self-harm is probably not widely known in Argentina. But in England there are many teens who cut themselves and injure themselves in an attempt to stop their emotional pain. The emotional pain comes primarily from lack of emotional support in their homes and schools. By emotional support I mean understanding, encouragement, and hugs.

In England, like the USA and other English speaking countries there is much less hugging. As a result there is a lack of human connection and this affects the mental health of the entire culture.

My idea is to set up a program to invite young people from England here so the Argentinineans can give them lots of hugs and show them a different way of life.

Put hostal/hotel infomation in bus terminal. Put internet computers there for tourists.

Have hotmail account for tourism department so people can chat with someone in English/Spanish or French
